Many are saddened – and I count myself among them – by the color, the stench, as well as the gloomy image, that settle in present times, in so many places of Cuban cities, especially Havana. Some will say that for well-known reasons, I would add as well as for idleness.
The truth is that in this subject proliferate the loss of values, actions lacking common sense and other evils that most affect the environment.
Along with these debaucheries, fortunately, the lustre of those who demonstrate with their actions the decorum of many men also flourishes; but I will not refer to these, but to those who allow or star in perfectly avoidable Dante scenes.
Never will I forget my pride when Havana was selected as the City of Wonder, nor can I stop thinking about the places where today, overnight, men and women usually arrive, generally disgraced, who without asking permission – no one demands them either -, start selling anything they can think of, often takes two out of dumpsters, call it a junk item, very old clothes, pots, pairs of old shoes, lanterns in permanent blackout and even cell phones with the promise of being Graham Bell’s envy.
Such a situation is long-standing, we recognize that it has been fought in stages and has reached worrying levels, so the competent authorities must plan to improve these environments comprehensively.
How is it possible to violate with such impunity the much forgotten ordinances about the duty of being in public spaces and also, incidentally, in those of the commercial network, which generally project an image of absolute decay, of a warehouse where antiques do not exactly fit, but the most impoverished and unthinkable.
Complying with the norms of coexistence and taking care of the environment in which we develop, including portals and sidewalks contributes to more orderly and enjoyable cities.
